Thoughts on AI
Earlier this month, we hosted a Lunch and Learn on "How to Use AI Effectively (and Responsibly) for Sermon Writing." This is an area of growing interest in our Compelling Preaching community, and we were fortunate to be led by one of our grant consultants, Rev. Lynn Barger Elliott, who has done a good bit of research on this subject.
I will be honest and say that I have been slow to jump on the AI bandwagon, but I also realize that AI is not going to wait on me to catch on. I remember feeling a little the same way in the '90s when the internet made its debut. Now, for better or worse, I cannot imagine functioning in life without the internet. I also recognize that AI (and the data centers it requires) are a source of ethical and ecological concern, and that can certainly be a future topic for another Lunch and Learn.
Before I use AI, I would like to know how it can help (or hinder) me. If you are thinking along those lines, this Lunch and Learn recording could be a good start. You can find the link here.
I would love to hear your thoughts on this topic!
