Things You Would Never
Say to a Man
These words are real.
“Things You Would Never Say to a Man” was created from the lived experiences of women in ministry right here in North Carolina; things women have actually heard about their bodies, their leadership, their families, their voices, and their calling.
Some of these experiences may be painful or triggering. We invite you to watch with care, and, more importantly, to listen.
This video isn’t about shaming people. It’s about helping all of us notice the words we use and the culture those words create. Because language matters. Words can affirm a calling or diminish it. They can create belonging or reinforce barriers.
Don’t stop with the video. Start a conversation.
We’ve created two discussion guides to help:
General Discussion Guide — for small groups, Sunday School classes, ministry teams, and other gatherings.
Church Leadership Discussion Guide — for pastors, staff, deacons, search committees, personnel committees, and other congregational leaders.
Watch. Listen. Talk together. And consider how we can create churches where the words we use reflect the welcome, dignity, and belonging we want our communities to embody.
Words don’t just describe culture. Words create culture.
